Okay, here’s the latest on “The Last Fifteen Seconds”.
We are in week 8 of the process, which has ended up being quite a challenge.
At one point, we were faced with the decision of whether to continue working on the project or not. For Majdi, it was the first time with MT Space where he felt the show was not going to be ready for an audience, in time to publicize it as a fully mounted production.
So, we have a show that will now run this Thursday - Saturday, only, the 9th - 11th at the Registry Theatre. The show is pay what you can, with a $10 suggested price.
The biggest challenge with the show has been finding exactly the right material to tell the story. And for anyone who has never done a project creation before, it is quite unusual. The material comes from the actors, as opposed from a script.
Majdi’s approach is physical and vocal first, and text has not been a strong component in his other MT Space productions. So, Gary Kirkham, who is also a member of Lost & Found Theatre, has been doing some writing for the show.
I’m very pleased with my work in this project, and hope that some of you who read this will be able to see the show.
Meanwhile, I’ve also now cast and begun early rehearsals for “Fiddler on the Roof”. It’s early, and the focus in the beginning will be music.
